It’s been a while since the last update. There’s been plenty happening behind the scenes – planning new projects and meeting new partners and collaborators – so it’s been an exciting time. Even with all that going on, the Menphys card game is edging closer to completion.
The coping cards have had a bit of a rethink. They’re now split into attack and defence cards – attack cards are more about taking action, while defence cards focus on resilience and protecting your emotional health. It makes the gameplay feel a bit more strategic and, I think they look better for it. There have also been a few tweaks to the GUI and plenty of sound effects added in.

On the AR side, there’s been a fair bit of optimisation. The AR in this game is fairly straightforward on the surface, but underneath, the engine’s doing some quite advanced plane detection and object placement. It’s a nice little showcase of what could be possible in future projects.
What’s next: I’ll be reworking the story card selection screen. At the moment, gameplay uses a random set of progressively difficult story scenarios, which works well for freeplay. The plan is to introduce a more linear, story-driven mode as the main way to play, while still keeping freeplay as an option.
Nearly there now!
